I stood out of site at the party
That last night
I heard you tear her pride to bits
Laughing scornfully
You said, ‘I didn’t make you cheat,
I only took what you had to offer’
With that you walked away
Oblivious to her tears
I remembered the party where you met her
You saw her, alone and lonely
While her husband made the rounds
Slapping shoulders
Being the good guy while he neglected
The one person he should have noticed
You saw her insecurity
You saw her need
I watched while you moved in
Like the snake you are
Complimenting her
Wooing her
Bringing her fresh drinks
I saw her give you her number
And your smug smile
When you took it
You ruined her life you know
She wasn’t the type
To cheat and live with it
You ask me why
I’m doing this to you
Why I lured you into love
And then
Left you high and dry
Let’s just say
It was a favor I owed
A dead friend
