Charlie the clown
Is what they call me
A smile on my face
Is all that they see
Room to room spreading
Sunshine and joy
To every sick little
Girl and boy
Some who have cancer
Some who can't hear
Some who don't have
Anyone to care
Charlie the clown
Is what they call me
Cheering up the children
And their family
For a brief while I help
Them to forget
Transport them away from
Where they're at
Draw them into my world
Where they've never been
In their minds they are
happy kids again...
Back at home I take off my
Smile and my paints
As I think about the babies
I call my saints
My heart breaks as a tear
Flows down
The REAL image of
The happy clown...
Huuummmm! A touching write indeed, Linda. I can see the joy in it for the children in hospital...and I can feel the sadness of the "clown" when alone, reflecting. I can well relate to the Clown. A beautiful write. Crowns await you in heaven, dear friend. Huuummm!
Abundant blessings.

Lena

Hello Linda, what a touching poem this is to read. We should all become a Charlie Clown.

Linda, a clown has a hard job though his heart is breaking for the pain the children are in, he must find enough strength to make them laugh and feel like a kid again, as you said bring them into his world. Great work, what would we do without you Sister? Peace!!!
Having worked in a Shriner's hospital in Atlanta I know what it means to bring a smile to these children. It takes a special person...Bless those Clowns, Magicians, and animals.
To cheer and try and make smile such devastatingly tragic children would be a wonderful thing to do, but yes I can see a collapse of the false smile when the makeup comes off...it is having a heart.

Beautiful bittersweet poem I embrace!
It takes such strength inside to do what you are doing, to see the fear and pain in their eyes and look back with happiness and love.
A real-life angel, bless you.
