Poem Artwork

Yep! T It’s that time of year again
My arse is always froze.
There’s a biting wind that shrivels my skin
And there’s icicles in my nose!

It’s cold enough to freeze kahunas
That is if I had some to freeze!
I’m bundled up in sweaters and scarves
With underwear down to my knees!

The days are short and friggin cold!
And when nighttime rolls around
Its flannel jammies, and quilts and socks
And to the house I’m bound!

I’m proud of my beautiful homeland
The true north strong and free!
But I don’t have to like the ice and snow
For a proud Canadian to be!

I know I likely shouldn’t complain
There are them that got it worse!
But being Canadian in wintertime
Is not a blessing; it’s a curse!

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PICTURE, ANNABEL. IM GLAD YOU POSTED IT ALONG WITH THIS WORK BECAUSE IT REMINDS ME THAT THERE IS ALWAYS A PRICE TO BE PAID FOR SUCH BEAUTY. HANG IN THERE, GIRL...SPRING IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

excellent write Annabel
beautiful sight
loved the snow once upon a time
But I love the sun more now
where I am warm in my patio
sipping whatever is cold and handy
Love & Peace be with you

Yes, indeed, I love winters, but the cold is extraordinary right now and I'm shivering here in Boston, too!

Great poem my friend for this time of the year as it has been cold here in Ohio and now were expecting a snow storm and it has been very windy, so this poem fits the cold indeed, Laura

After thirty Houston winters, it would be nice to experience a Canadian one. Since I originally come from the North, I do get a bit melancholy about it at times. But then thoughts of the times I was always cold and the landscape was so barren, lead me to believe it's better to be stuck down here in suburbia then locked away in a cabin in the wilderness.

Hope you get over your cabin fever soon.

I once truly loved the beauty of winter,
But my love now wains, as I grow old;
It's truly not for the weak of heart,
I add more and more layers in the cold.

Awww. But it sounds cozy too. Down here in January flowers are blomming way out of season. The Daisys are confused and the gardenias too.

Annabel, it's bloody cold everywhere...but your humorous lines warmed my otherwise cold and skinny body.

Mark Twain is reported to have said "The coldest winter of my life was one summer I spent in San Francisco." I guess he never had the pleasure of visiting Newfoundland. He might have discovered that frozen "kahunas" are not all like frozen dacquiries.

"With underwear down to my knees!" Sorry Annabel but I think this might be WAY too much information...otherwise, thanks for the laugh...tis cold here too, but not as cold as all that as I live in a motorhome with absolutely NO insulation so I do what I gotta do to keep warm too...e

Oh, Anna, Anna. You think you have it tough? Well, we had ten days of temps in the low to high forties. Oh, my, burrrr, indeed. I got 'em and, well, to be honest my kahunas almost did freeze. Well, not really.
Your, now in the high seventies, friend, Mark

Cute poem, but with a true "biting wind" feel to it. I lived in New York City for three years. Three years of the coldest, snow-bound years I will never forget. It was even worse that the years I was stationed at Cheyenne, Wyoming. I would like to make a trip back to Cheyenne, but you'd have to put a gun to my head for me to venture back to NYC. Nope.Nope.
