The stalker©

By Kathy Lynn

It has started again

What I was afraid would begin

Stealthily he approaches

From the shadows

I look from side to side

Trying to find somewhere to hide

But the street is dark the stores closed

How frightened I am no one knows

He advances on me broadly smiling

He has studied and timed my activities

For he will never let me be

He still thinks he owns me

Frightened and all alone

All I want is to get back home

Safely and without him hurting me

Oh! God! Please help me!

I run to my car in the parking garage

Watching as people from the elevator discharge

Fumbling for the key I have to stop

For I see him standing there at the top

Hurriedly I open the door and start it up

He is coming and he won’t stop

Until he has me in his hands

Memories of nightmares begin again

I accelerate and speed away

I have managed to escape today

Now I must run once again

I have to make all new plans

For he will get his way

And I will have to pay

For he never believed that the divorce was real

In his head with it he could never deal

Tears run down my face

When will I ever win this race

Time after time I have to start fresh

Leaving everything behind that I have cherish

Pursued from town to town

State to state

He will never stop until

I am at heavens gate

It's a scary feeling being followed and hounded. It happened to me once in a park; realized then what women have to put up with.

Fear is fear and no one should have to live life this way Kathleen. It makes me quiver to think of it.The law has to put a stop to it before it's too LATE for a woman shouldn't have to meet her maker before her time at Heaven's gate. Thank you for sharing.

I have heard/read about such situations. What an awful predicament to be in. You have conveyed this very effectively via your verses here, Kathleen. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

This is not a good situation to be in, but understand well the emotional upheaval that occurs. This is a real fear that many are forced to live through and deal with and you have pointed that out very well. God bless....

Be always safe,
Karen

Shocking, brutal but I know all too honest portrayal of what the victims of stalkers go through. These stalkers sadly are often not the back side, low life end of the spectrum but are in fact all walks of life from factory workers to lawyers and they know just how far the law will allow them to go. You capured a woman's fear and hopelessness perfectly here. Well done
