Bush and his administration falsely linked Hussein with Al Qaeda and the tragedy of September 11, 2001; the U.S. led war in Iraq is based on lies; more than three thousand good Americans have died for these lies, and tens of thousands more are maimed for life. Disgrace now enshrouds this once justly proud nation of freedom fighters.
He lied to me.
He said he cared;
and did so with the depth of genuine spiritual convection.

To provide for me and keep me safe from harm.
But he lied.

Sadly, countries like mine (Australia) added their support out of respect and concern for the US... those lies got passed on to our leaders and they now face the scorn of their constituents too.
A question to ponder: if the presidency and congress are always in the hands of the super-rich and biggest industrial leaders, how can we ever feel comfortably certain that any 'altruistic' US world action (like 'freeing' the Iraqis) isn't basically masking some personal profit motive?

Carolyn, I sense that your write "He Lied to Me" is a lie that 's too BIG for you to respond to using your usual haiku writing form. And, of course, the consequences are even bigger and will impact humankind, Americans not exempted, for generations to come. To say "there has not been an attack in America by terrorists since 9/11/01" fails to acknowledge how many people in the world have been attacked as a result of America's hegemonic behavior and how many people have become terrorists during the last five years. You have powerfully and indignantly expressed a view that more Americans need to openly expressed in the hope that the madness our national leaders are obsessed with will be contained. I fully concur with your statement.

So over the centuries all the wars concocted " Holy Wars" have been so that other nations could take Jerusalem. Goes right back... Been going on since Babylonian times. Bush admin is just following orders, and in his case gladly, as are other leaders, money merchants, overlords, etc etc. It's prophetic, no one can stop it, but we have an alternative... Stay faithful to God, wait it out, and recieve our reward.

President Bush has used the state of power to commit genocide, destroying entire groups of people on the basis of their presumed race or ethnicity. This war, like the Holocaust, is an abberation of present time and will be in history. Is it possible that this president is using his hatred to gain control of society? Is he not using the machinery of the state to attempt to destroy groups that he hates, including his own? When you ask yourself these questions, think about the fact that Germany had the most educated citizens in the world, with more Ph.D's per square mile than any place on the face of the earth. Germany was also a world leader in the arts, the sciences, technology, and theology. President Bush has perpetrated and boasted the most colossal, damaging piece of social dirty work the world has ever known, standing next to Hitler. How many Negro Americans died to the hands of lynching mobs? How many more died in history and are dying now from unnecessary disease and lack of food or knowledge of nutrition? How many nationalities die from bringing about the collectivization of the land? Who is to blame for the starving millions while wheat molds in the fields of other parts? How did dirty government rise to such a high level?

It is intended rather to signify a coordinated plan of different actions aiming at the destruction of essential foundations of the life of national groups, with the aim of annihilating the groups themselves. The objectives of such a plan would be the disintegration of the political and social institutions, of culture, language, national feelings, religion, and the economic existence of national groups, and the destruction of the personal security, liberty, health, dignity, and even the lives of the individuals belonging to such groups.

If a leader keeps injecting the people with fear and distrust of outsiders, then he can get away with almost anything IF the people buy the leader's act. I remember when the original CIA report came out before we went to war and that it said British intelligence was wrong and that there were "no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq." Suddenly, we heard no more of that report and the war was on! It's almost as though with more information available than ever before that people are so swamped by data that they are too overwhelmed to attempt deciphering fact from fiction and so fall for all kinds of scams. In this case, our government scammed us.
I don't think Sadaam was a leader whose actions we can condone; neither do I think we can stick our heads in the sand about the real threat of terrorism, but our leaders become criminals themselves when they dupe us into going to war. And again, the weapon was and is fear. And they're still playing the game with talk like "You have to give up some rights such as the right to privacy if we're going to win the war against terror." If we are not more diligent we will find ourselves living in a fascist state that only has the veneer of democracy. Are we so busy staring into the abyss that we are becoming its monster?
