What day was that?
Who laid it to rest?
You know, the one
I could not find.
Did a dark angel steal
it away from me while
my back was turned?
What will it take next?
Probably my last breath!
Could this be the face of
things to come? God
help me, I'm all confused.
Who would be so unblessed
That they would have awoken
one morning in a day that
was wiped cleaned - erased?
To have no memories left
behind - placed somewhere
in a darkened hollow; to lose
twenty-four hours forever.
I will never take things for
granite again as somehow
I had aged - more liver spots
on my hands and fingers.
Now it's the dead of night
a day later - trying like hell
to hold on while the important
things in life slip away.
I find myself looking across
an empty room, void of all
material things - doesn't
really matter though.
Then through my window I
saw a bright white light - a
messenger sent from God
I knew then all was right again!

This poem reminded me of the years I worked in a nursing home. So many minds erased, not only one day but YEARS wiped clean. Alzheimers is such a sad, lonely illness. It robs, it takes away, it steals beautiful memories and all thats left is a mask, a hollow shell.
Powerful writing, my friend.
Blessings and huggggs,
~Linda
