' . . .after Moses caused a great flood . . . '

Poem Artwork

The Tower, according to chapter

11in the Book of Chatter was an

enormous structure built by the gift

of gab in the city of Blab-all.

According to gossip accounts, a

united humanity spoke a single

language – cause they weren’t

married (lol); hung out at bars.

All gabbers took part in the building

after Moses caused a great flood

when he parted the Red Sea – it was

the beginning of Spiel Rod’s kingdom.

Chit-chatters decided their city should

have the tower-of-towers (can you hear

me now) – to reach the clouds; but Blab-all

wasn’t built to talk to God.

No sir re bob – it was being constructed to

talk to their relatives and neighbors; and of

course press two for ‘hola’; ‘cause there

weren’t any real operators.

Just a recording, no real voice – this didn’t

go over big with the ‘Maker’; put static on

the line and plenty of disconnects; then

scattered people and languages all over.

Even split up Ma Bell; the Tower of

Blab-all soon came tumbling down, as

did all communications between people

Now all they do is TXT – KNIM?

Lance,
Yes, there's humour here... in the thought, the expression, the original point of view and approach, but there are, too, deep truths and great ironies. This is a highly creative, worthwhile poem.
