'and if you didn’t pay-up you’d wind-up in the gutter'

Poem Artwork

Lived down a dead-end lane

He had ten thugs in his gang

including his rotund self; he

was firm and the nine goons

would stay clammed; didn’t

wanna be dutched-out . . .

Controlled everything around

them, and if you didn’t pay-up

you’d wind-up in the gutter; if

a tough guy showed-up to try

and do a knockover, they would

pin and strike him . . .

One day a lug came along and

tried to frame the Kingpin and

his mugs, but they took a ball

and hit him on the noodle; was

all being watched by a peeper

Their days were numbered . . .

Then a union-striker who was

fed-up with the mob sashayed

himself to the outskirts of the

Kingpin’s lane; fingered his

weapon; then let it rip – STRIKE

Bowled a perfect game . . . !

Lance,
Witty, intelligent and with a strong undercurrent, and the bowling metaphor particularly apt.

Lance,

I was getting prepared for an all out gang war, but in your usual humourous way, we go bowling instead. Great write, dear friend.

Lance~

Well done; I love to bowl myself, but when I do, I look spastic. YOU try bowling while hanging onto a crutch and see where that lands YOU!! LOL My twin laughs at me! LOL Plus the regular balls are too heavy; I have to have the lighter weighted ones!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

You score a perfect game with this one!! BRAVO!!
