'Favorite songs were all Bluegrass'

Poem Artwork

Nero ruled from ’54 to ‘68

Like to fiddle around; had

an ear for music; was close

to the heavenlys – ‘Nero, my

God, to thee . . . ‘

Music hathed charms to sooth

the savage Roman breasts when

he was emperor  - did his gig on

any street corner; was saving up

for a Stratovarius . . .

Favorite songs were all Bluegrass

Not very popular back then, but

still made a Roman coin or two

All had ‘E Pluribus Unum’ stamped

on the back . . .

Oedipused his mother to death

[the kiss of death actually]; ‘cause

she wouldn’t back his square dance

hall – then began executing all

music non-believers . . .

And then came the Great Fire of

Rome – Nero played and sang, 'After

The Fire is Gone’; as the whole city

burned to the ground – “Did quis

quam dico 911 . . . ?”

Lance, Lance,
what are you doing to us? I really needed a good laugh this morning and I certainly got it here; "Nero, my God, to thee..." the muses smiled but I wonder if God's amused and in forgiving mood?
I love this, just love it.
John
