An ode to stay-at-home mothers.

 

Vacation is here.
There is no more school
The kids now rejoice,
But moms think it's cruel.

It seemed very nice
For half of a day
With no kids around
The mothers could play

They could turn on the soaps
Or chat with a friend
They could read a good book
From beginning to end

It's "Jack hit the cat,"
Or "Jill sassed me first,"
From six until bed time
Mom's seem to be cursed

But cheer up dear Mom
Comes next Labor Day
School will resume.
Then, it's your turn to play

After doing the dishes
And mending our drawers
And cooking our meals
And shopping in stores

And vacuuming rugs
And cleaning the sinks
And planning menus.
And serving us drinks.

Yes, stay-at-home Moms
Have plenty to do.
I guess I'll admit there's
No vacation for you
