This is a collaborative effort with Sha'Tara incorporating his suggestions after his reading of "Abyss" which I posted a couple of weeks back.

Poem Artwork

 Devolution

once restless
now despondent
without you
my soul
a shooting star
immolates itself
in the sweet atmosphere of
despair
husk
I am no longer
whole
scattered
upon the wind of time
swallowed
in a gravity well
plunged
in the abyss
endless and without mercy
blissful darkness
forever descends
I lie
irresponsible
unreconciled
unrepentant
dissolving in devolution

I love the imagery in this moving and somewhat dark poem. Nice job! Love can make us whole and bring us happiness but it can also tear us apart and bring us misery.

I like this. It reminds me of a corn maze--have you ever been in one? At night, in the cold, dead corn stalks rustling in the wind. Uh-oh, I feel a poem coming on! I think I've been inspired!

Dear Regis,

I cannot recall my previous words, but I do remember this impacting me, as it has done again this afternoon. You speak of an emotion that I have I known deeply, a depth I have experienced and climbed out of only to slip and climb again. Fighting the devolution, I suppose. This is truly a great work and you should be proud as a peacock...I apologize for the deletion.

Fondly,

Susan

Hurt hurts and that is something we all recognize. But time is a friend to the aches and pains of life. And we learn from experience both good and bad. Of course if it wasn't for the bad, the good wouldn't be as good either, would it? Thought provoking and geniune emotion captured dramatically here.

Devolution is handing down an emotional state to relieve a pain to acknowledge a way of growth, Regis. This touches upon the capacity to heal, and to express feeling is encouraged. A hybrid poem that shares so much of itself and I think Devolution creates an advantageous new situation.

yes it is deeply sad, and I have been there in my own way,yet as Lin suggests to allow it to flow and gradually you will be purged of that darkness.
I have learned that when we feel such things we need to "rest our bodies and minds, letting nothing else concern us, open our minds and hearts to receive the message(s) they need to receive during this time. It is amazing how much we learn about ourselves and can then move on to a better life.

E x c e l l e n t !! The plunge into despair is all the more
devastating because you have boiled the experience down in
a few exquisitely chosen words. I probably shouldn't be taking
so much pleasure, but the poem is so refreshing. A linguistic marvel
as well as a highly sensitive take on an experience that few if any
of us are able to avoid. Thank you, Reg. Thank you, Sha'Tara.

Regis you have told the truth more than once in your poems and many times that truth makes me cry, as does this one. I was very happy once, but then in the space of a moment I was crumpled up, thrown away and abandoned, and forced to live a life of resolute devolution.

Why is it that when we are happy and moving forward, there are those that are jealous and slap us down, forcing us backward into sadness and despondency? After living in the devolution of Hell, can we ever move forward again and rise to Heaven?

Thank you for sharing this dark side of life, dear brother.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Devolution leads ultimately to evolution as your picture perhaps suggests; death and rebirth; the shedding of skins; implosion to explode. To hell and back again, the lower part of the ferris wheel. When we finally scrape the dregs from the barrel of despondency, then the only way is up. Your crucible writes are potent and alchemic. Very well crafted and collaborated. TY Kate xx
