Poem Artwork

Abandoned

it’s all empty now
this house that used to be
a home
it stares at passers-by
dark eyes
from empty window frames
sometimes
shards of glass
in the grass
glisten like tears
in midday sunlight
midnight moonlight
sometimes
voices come from within
could be ghosts
or just the wind
moaning and hurting
yes there’s an aching
palpable
like a bruised
and battered heart
a broken soul
it’s all empty
those who know
know it’s all because
she went back
on her word

It seems as if all hope is lost on this one, and the house is not a home, and imaginary suffering of it too, and going back on her word, had to be hurtful, and some times people just want to run away from it all all that is good, seems they get scared about it all.

Yep, that's unfortunately life. What I wouldn't give to go back to some of the houses, I lived in as a child, just to see if they were still standing, to see what families lived there now. Every once in awhile, I will even catch myself going pass the house, I lived in for 17 years, when i was married, just to see what he and his new wife have changed anything. Not sure if it's a good thing or not, but everything, that is still there, she didn't have to do a thing but just move in, where I used to sleep, cook and do all the things to keep a house running.

This poem reminds me of my family's vacation home in San Donato Val di Comino,Italy. The house is so empty, a house which once was so animated when my grandparents lived in it. Now, as everyone in my family gets older, or goes on in different directions of their lives, the house does not seem as animated anymore. Each time I travel to Italy, I stay in the house alone. I love the house, but during the year, the house is just so abandoned. The house is dark, the lawn gets overgrown. The house lights up when I arrive and the lawn does get cut when I am there, but my friends there tell me how sad it is that the house that once was filled with animation, is just so dark and looks lonely when they pass by. Your poem captured my heart as I thought of the house in Italy.

There's got to be an amazing heart wrenching story being this. Is it possibile that most children/families are abandoned because the caretakers gave up when someone gave up on them, like the large companies sending jobs overseas? Or like the school system that abandoned the kids when the teachers were no longer respected by the administration, and teachers gave up hope with the exception of a precious few? So many possibilities, I'm so glad that someone reached out to me in my financial situation to turn my world for my own family around, and showed me how to be my own boss in a thriving market. Not bragging, it's just tough to show people who've been kicked that there really are people out there who mean them well if they are willing to listen how to change their situation.

I guess that's why it's easy for me to share hope again, because I've seen it for myself, as well as others. So keep reaching people thru your writing, and keep giving hope. . . .would LOVE to see another slant to this poem to show how people deserve to be sincerely wanted for the best reason around. . . and that's to be unconditionally loved?

blessin's, this is a keeper for me my Brother,

Heartfelt write in knowing that the broken glass was on the lawn, broken from the inside, out...
When someone goes back on their word to an adult, that's another lesson learned, when someone goes back on their word to a child, that's a life having to be re-learned...only this time there is a lack of security and trust...and most of all love. Hopefully, if there truly is a child you know, who is hurting like this, Reg~ The best that can be done, is that, that someone returns, asking for forgiveness and picking up the shards...but if that's not possible, showering them in love, and alot of close guidance might get them back on track...A very profound "Abandoned"
You serve your pen well...
Love and Peace~
