Poem Artwork

Amélie

I met Amélie
quite unexpectedly
She was introduced to me
in a kaleidoscope of colors
on the edge of the river of dreams
by another entity
quite a beauty
really
We sat leaning back
on the arc of a rainbow
As we watched
in timelessness
the stars began to fall
from the sky
Angels gathered them
flew away
leaving stardust in their wake
Amélie wept
In the darkling blue-black backdrop
of endlessness
her crystal tears
became newborn stars
A moment ago
Amélie smiled
I wished we would never wake

I see that you were inspired by the movie "Amélie Poulain"... or maybe just a name, an atmosphere... One that is surreal, dreamlike floating.
We're left to wonder who the character is.

Beautifully described and so mysterious, Regis. A colourful collage indeed of feelings, sensings and emotions. A rollercoaster, too, taking us through the whole spectrum of happy/sad. Waking would be like putting a pin to this high-flying balloon, leaving us to have to decide whether we wake with sunshine or rain... xx

This is my favorite poem of yours, Reg. Partly because it doesn't always rhyme, and the dream is so far out. Was it a real dream you had? The movement forward with the stars is superb. I like "leaving stardust in their wake." Loved your writing style.
