Okay. I know these are silly verses but sometimes I like to rhyme and besides, they do express something about someone who is really nice to me. ☺♥

Honeygirl

What's a honeygirl?
She may have a curl
Or two somewhere
In her golden hair
They say love is blind
But she is as kind
As any you'll find
She surely is sweet
As the sweetest treat
As any you'll eat
She's easy to love
She fits like a glove
She makes me feel humble
But I'd never grumble
She dispels darkness
With her loveliness
She can be funny
She's always sunny
She's smart and she's witty
And of course she's pretty
I feel rather badly
That my words so sadly
Don't come anywhere near
To describe her I fear
She's like a rare pearl
She's a honeygirl

Regis, as sweet as apple pie. I do love apple crumble, and poems that have me reaching for the honey jar like Winnie the Pooh.

Hey Bunny,

Thanks for the welcome! I'm working two jobs at the moment and am a little spacy. :)

I think it's sweet but if you used a bit more white rhyme and alliteration, you could break away from the hard rhyme and it'd have a more musical tone.

Although I dunno know if you want a more musical tone.

:) LOL.

Anyway, it is exceptionally cute. :)

Hey Regis, what a darling offering! I'm sure she is SPECIAL.. because YOU surely are!

I don't get here often, and hardly to review.. but
The word Honeygirl is so rarely heard.. and precious, to me.

So I will share a little secret with you.. my mother called me that when I was young.. and then I called my own daughters that as they grew up - and now, it's 3rd generation, as I go on to call my GRANDdaughters Honeygirl! So you see, Honey Bee, this little gem, you have penned, has special meaning to me!

What's with the "silly"??!! I ADORE this, Regis. It's endearing and honest and refreshingly "smitten", such that it brings out rhymes that sing with elation as well as dainty expression. I think Honeygirl is a delightful term that I've not heard before, so it's wonderful to hear it so beautifully described in full. Lovely work! xx

whimsy and ryhme is always so refreshing and uplifting...too much 'deep', political', 'love-lost'can drag spirits low...but then i'm the one who always dabbles in those things...then races back to my 'rose-colored' whimsy. i liked this 'muchly'...p

It's a sweet poem but I am not a fan of the "flow" of the poem from line to line.

Flow is very important in poetry and for me it has to be 100% perfect otherwise it can ruin the read.

Your poem is as sweet as honey dripping from the hive. On a lighter note, keep in mind that honey is actually bee barf. ;)

You have described your honeygirl perfectly Regis. BTW I didn't find these verses silly at all. Love in all its forms is a wonderful thing, and if acting silly or writing silly poems is a part of that love, then so be it. I thought this poem was not only romantic but heartwarming as well. Thank you for sharing.
