God's country --
with my coffee on
in-laws deck, looking
to the East in awe.

The valley below is
a bubbling cauldron --
mists roll, tossing
occasional mounds of trees
up for an offering to
approaching day.

A faint glow creeps
over the ridge-top
casting its gold upon
floating castles of cloud.

Warmer and warmer
light spreads into the trees,
then a sliver of
blinding daystar peeks
tentatively over the ridge.

The cauldron seethes,
lifting itself into the air.
God smiles in brilliant clarity
into the waking valley.
