He takes his scribe
a Parker pen I do say
directs it to write
as he mutters 'Dae ye ken?'
Yet the pen ignores
refuses to write
he looks in alarm
his lips stay tight.
Not a thought drips
not from his mind maybe his lips
he wonders if his memory has gone
as he orders the pen to write
'Write on! Write on! you crazy fool.'.
Then as if a light were switched to go
he scribes these words
'My End has begun, I'm done, goodbye.'
Then he gasps as he falls over
he is gone forever.
It certainly is a fretful thing for one to try to write an epitaph and only come up with traditional wording to honor someone you consider better than that.
