Glimpse of Sanity

When I ventured from the urban city into the dense quiet woods
I felt the heavy veil lift just where I stepped, stopped and stood
So I decided to forgive those in my life who I did & they did me harm
A heartwarming silence of tall trees, deafening like a first fire alarm
In some distant way I knew the hurt loved ones out there understood
If they were with my soul then, I would thank & hug them if I could
All this occurred in my once shattered broken now strong clear mind
My blood ran peacefully warm until the cave, a painful flashback find
Next to the rocky rippled stream near the small lake by the red barn
I stepped off the sandy trail & hopped over the fence onto the lawn
Feeling like that of royalty in some distant county in the past, a czar
Unfortunately that cancerous insanity returned when I turned on car
Wanted to leave my crippled body there and go to the first bar I saw
But instead I just drove down that road of bad memories really so far
Got home back to my base & washed my brain of that thick black tar
That gathered up in my vessels like decayed moss in a world of reality
Unlike my trip into that magic healing forest, a real glimpse of sanity
