CRUISING WITH A SMILE

Sometimes my sweetie and I
like to take a little cruise,
and we have a better time
after a small nip of booze. 

Don’t buy it we were told,
sneak it on board with you.
On the ship it’s very costly
but was this something we could do? 

Isn’t this illegal?
Couldn’t we go to jail?
Would these same friends
Show up to pay our bail?

We hemmed and hawed
then decided to give it a try.
Maybe we’d save some cash,
or maybe we’d still have to buy.

Empty mouthwash bottles
seemed just the very thing.
We dyed some vodka blue
and a second bottle green.

We packed and closed our bags
nervous about our plight.
Then stood by as both bags
disappeared from our sight.

Later our luggage was delivered
and there wasn’t even a cop.
But, when we opened the bag
there was a note lying on the top.

We’ve confiscated your alcohol,
hope you have a nice cruise.
We’ll be more than happy
to SELL you your favorite booze.

The second bag held the same.
Guess we’ll be buying our drinks this time.
We were happy to not be arrested
and prepared to spend the extra dime.

We enjoyed each and every day,
though it was a more expensive trip.
From now on we won’t be listening
to those friendly helpful tips.
