Are opposites and unity mutually exclusive? Perhaps art can bring us together.
Pencils and erasers,
Paintbrushes and thinner,
Charcoal and smudged hand,
Sculpture and chisels,
Photos and Photoshop,
Needles and felt,
Jewelry and hammers,
Ink and acid etched metal,
Wood and lathes.
Use it and change it,
From shapeless to form and structure,
From 2D to 3D,
From nothing to something,
Combination of grace...
Creation in the darkness,
From pitch to angel wings,
From separate to belonging,
That we, like art, could all belong,
That we would not be stuck in dichotomies
of beliefs that muddy our vision,
That we could be one.
Perhaps unity would be better served if one hand was red and the other was blue.

. . . pitch ink, pure water and paper; clay, water and fire; our minds/hearts, hands and the energy coming up from the feet along the backbone towards the hearts and then to both hands of a painter, a sculptor, an artist in a general sense. . . a dichotomy is never be consisted of two parts, but always of three.
