So soft it feels.
So easy it cuts
With a sharp pair.
So fibrous it stretches
To make little animals,
To delight little hands.
A goat creature here
And a fox over there.
They talk to each other
Over tea and biscuits.
But their human counterparts
Are floppier,
More likely to stretch under pressure,
Easier to cut with lies,
Easier to deceive
With woolly stuffed heads,
Believing promises of the wolves
Who laugh at them
As they throw down candy in trails
And lead them to the butcher,
Having shorn their hair
In a camp of slaughter.
As you allude to, pouching and immoral slaughter of animals has become a pandemic: all in the name of dominion over animals as an excuse. A stark reminder of how uncivilized we've become.
Stretching under pressure would not be so bad
But folding under pressure is the norm
How soft our heads
How unfelt our hearts.
Different words, same thoughts,
Well deserved, succinctly delivered.
Full of sarcasm. But rightfully so. We are so unfeeling when it comes to the natural order of things. Animals kill for food or to pass on their species--survival of the fittest--rarely. Humans kill for fun. Our feelings are not the same and not felt the same. We need to understand that to be better at what it is to be human.
Strange, I thought of the fabric immediately before opening the story. And there it was! Made me feel like I had a sixth sense--cool. When my partner comes home every day and asks me how I feel, I invariably reply to her serious request, "With my hands." ;-)
Perry Conners, Arizona tycoon and soon-to-be politician, can't sleep or make love anymore, and he's losing all sense of reality. Is it the Devil's fault?
