As I slow bake the dawn scrapers,
Comes the rise of shame desiccated.
The priests sacrifice another virgin
Else I shine no more.
I laugh stoically,
Cast shadows over rural crop circles,
For who else
Would make up these narratives?
Maybe I am a god,
So many have worshipped me.
Making the food grow,
The trees of purifying air,
The storms of rain and wind.
Your canyons of melted sand and iron
I smile upon
And asphalt photic ooze
Dipped from the base of oceans.
I wink to rise my waves,
Blurring the line between
Make believe and the long harsh truth,
Beaming of dial’s shadow.
The memories from which you violently shake,
As my descent leaves you helpless,
Closing eyes and waiting for that morning
I rise again
And cleanse your temples, your bodies
From all that was once taken.
I burn the wicked and heal the wounded,
Lest you forget
My mercy,
My hope,
My love.
