A STREAM
In my heart I nurture a dream
Of becoming a merry forest stream,
Flowing under the canopy of trees,
Murmuring gently to the hum of bees.
Flowing forward without any rest,
Competing with birds with equal zest,
Singing for them a nightly lullaby,
Soothing to every stray passerby.
Away from the cruel world and its madness,
Its quarrelsome noise and silly sadness,
Just in the silence of surrounding wood,
While the birds lovingly feed their brood.
Then I will meet that great river,
Dissolve in it, yet remain forever.
