This poem is mainly about my anger over Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

 NO WAR

Sara L. Russell

13th July 2022 at 00:34

If we could only

put things back

the way they were before

as all the while

musicians sing

no war

no war…

You are pissing on the world

with your rain of terror

your deluge of terrorism

misplaced heroism

the heroin of glory

the gory dreams of victory

over what,

over whom,

over babies,

women,

hospitals,

care homes?

You are shitting on the world

with your dogs of war

basely squatting on private land

pouring out the shit of destruction

over property,

over humanity,

the environment,

felling trees,

crushing culture

flattening land,

vandalising listed buidings,

homes,

animals

humans…

And who are they to you

but your faceless foe

the dehumanised

perceived vermin

of your schizophrenic

nightmares,

the unloved,

unseen minions

of the anthill in your way?

And who are they to us

but our displaced neighbours,

the people we cry for

on the news every day,

for their suffering is not lost on us,

it has not missed us,

they are

our long lost brothers and sisters,

they are everything,

they are us.

War is truly hell. Even when one ends it never really ends.

For a last line, you could have written, You are us. It is clear the direction you are pointing with this poignant poem, but United States has a budget larger than all of the countries of the world combined, primarily to keep the engine of war continuing after World War II in the name of "defense."

It will probably take a world shaking third world war before the whole world comes to its senses and stops the madness of war by those few left in the ashes of a spoiled Eden.

Your words are accurate, reliable, and useful--to all of us. They are the pillars of enlightenment, thus they mean nothing to thugs and tyrants. But now we Finland and Sweden to strengthen our resolve, plus economic and political sanctions, and a continuing flow of weapons--the only language they understand.
