I wrote the following sarcastic poem because I don’t try to rhyme when I write.
This in no way should be taken as a put down to those who
can create beautifully rhythmicly rhyming poetry.
It’s just that I can’t stand a rhyme for the sake of itself.

I Can’t Stand Rhymes!

I can’t stand rhymes,
Just for the sake of filling time(s),

Like “Oh what a feeling,
When you’re dancing on the ceiling,”

That stuff makes me sick
It cuts me to the quick,

Oh, and “Tinsel falls from little hands
Reindeer meet a new snowman”

But I can’t really really stand,
It makes me want to kill that band.

And what about church hymns too?
They make me feel like…like....I got the flu!(Whew!)

They think they can rhyme a word like “again”
With a word that doesn’t really rhyme like “pain” my friend,

Did that Rhyme?
No? Okay, well one more time.

I had a little doll
I hanged it on the wall
And that’s all.

See? I too can do it! It’s easy as pie!
So now it’s time to say goodbye.

But before for I do, I leave you this…
There is beauty in rhymes; it’s just that a lot miss.
