Choosing a Mother’s Day card

Life’s full of challenges some of them hard

Like picking out your wife’s Mother’s Day card

If you just randomly pick one from the rack

You’ll soon find yourself putting it back

To your chagrin, you’ll have discovered

It’s not for your wife, it’s for your mother

You need one with words she’ll believe

Wives are smart, they are hard to deceive.

So, don’t expect her to fall down in a swoon

If you choose a card promising her the moon

You’ve been married too long, she’s heard it before

She’ll laugh so hard she’ll fall down on the floor

It’s a good thing my wife is the best of sports,

The only moon she gets is when I change my shorts.
