The pain and suffering of war. It is in the news, it is in our homes, it is in our subconscious, our poetry and now it invades my thoughts and writing as well. I am not the Soldier's Wife. This poem is in honor of all the family members who lost a loved one. The emotional pain and loss is beyond comprehension for them. My heart goes out to you.
In this moment there is no beginning, no end and no peace….
Felt so deeply, the arms of warfare, the dark red stain of primitive terror. Ignorance, pride and the lust for power leaves our unborn child without a father.
I ask why, again and again, as the bone dry gust synthesizes with your last breath. In this still raw moment of unaccepted death, this still raw moment of primitive terror.
Eloquent and yet it cuts to the bone. Having spent 24 years in the military, it is not easy. Hardships are a way of life. Seperations cut a hole in your heart and soul. I don't want to remember those moments but then, I dont want to forget.
Thank you for sharing about how you feel about soliders. My heart goes out to all families for when I was a little girl I did not have the understanding of how my daddy would never come back home and I would see him again.
Joy - Am new to your excellent and poignant writing. You've captured well, the loss of a husband and father and I commend you for good writing. As one who served for five years in WWII, I saw this country's going to the aid of Endland and France with Hitler at their throats, was expanded when Pearl Harbor exploaded and the Japanese threatehned to take over the other half of the world. There is little difference between those changes in history and the religious and oil barons who want to take over a world of finance and natural resources - because Allah, or some god tells them it is possible. Hell, maybe they're right, but By God, and By damn, the United States of America can't allow it to happen. To do so, will foretell the end of the civilized world as we know it. No,I'm not being dramatic. It's terribley hard for younger persons to see what is in our future; sacrafice of our own flesh and blood to end the campaign to win the life we know for all wives and children of military men. Too many are swayed by deaths of soldiers, but those who die know that it is part of the reason they are in uniformom. Now, how do we convince our liberal civilians that their lives and way of life are at stake? Reading history of wars may be dull, but there is deep truth therein. With great respect, - Bill

This powerful write - about a powerless feeling, is razor-edged sharp...and necessary. Each person must think and pray and seek answers.
In my heart-of-hearts, I believe our President and First Lady spend many nights on their knees, in the valley of tears.
The only solace, I can glean, personally, is from St. Matthew 24:4-9
"And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. AND YE SHALL HEAR OF WARS AND RUMOURS OF WARS: SEE THAT YE BE NOT TROUBLED; FOR ALL THESE THINGS MUST COME TO PASS, BUT THE END IS NOT YET, FOR NATION SHALL RISE AGAINST NATION, AND KINGDOM AGAINST KINGDOM; AND THERE SHALL BE FAMINES, PESTILENCES, AND EARTHQUAKES IN DIVERSE PLACES. ALL THESE ARE THE BEGINNING OF SORROWS."

I TAKE SOLACE...FROM THE FACT, THAT HE IS THE SPIRIT OF OUR RESURRECTED LORD, LIVING INSIDE EVERY BELIEVER, AND HE WILL SEE US SAFELY "HOME"!
ONE OF MY DAILY AND NIGHTLY PRAYERS IS PRAYING AS JESUS TOLD US TO DO: FOR ALL sAINTS, [BELIEVERS] THAT WE MAY PASS SAFELY THROUGH ALL THE HORRORS THAT MUST COME TO PASS, BEFORE JESUS' GLORIOUS RETURN, AND PRAYING THAT WE MAY ALL BE FOUND WORTHY OF ENTERING INTO HIS KINGDOM!
