THE LOOKING GLASS

This is how the mind of so many react when going through a bout of depression. Yes, everything hurts, but there is always light at the end of the tunnel, God bless.

Blissful sleep doesn't come as easily as it once did,  I remember how sweet it was when I was just a kid

My eyes hurt, as if there's sawdust between the lids,  now it doesn't seem to be just when I go to bed.

The knees ache and the back breaks so bad it hurts to walk,  maybe to the doctor I'll go and have a talk,

But I know she will only say "remember, your no longer just a kid" and then she'll advise me to use a cane when I take a walk.

Looking through my eyes, I can't focus anymore,  it's as if a film covers them and makes them very sore and this really aggrevates even more

As if seeing through a looking glass wondering if what I see is true , it's easier to just close my eyes, maybe than I won't feel so darn blue

Now if only my head would behave the way it use to do, instead of when I start to talk so many hurtful words I spew.

This isn't the real me talking, saying all these nasty things I do, I just want to be my old self, I really wish I could, I don't want to say these hurtful things, especially to you.

No one likes to be nasty and often it can't be helped when you are suffering with any kind of pain or discomfort. It's too bad we can't pass it on to the Doctors for only a few moments so they can fully understand what it is we are going through. Thank you for sharing as I am sure you aren't alone dear.

Love & hugs sissy XOXOXO Rose

My dear Selena, I so understand every single word of your poem. My daughter has suffered with depression for the past 20 years, and its been a very difficult road for us. I've written quite a lot of poetry about depression...it always helped me..theraputic I guess. I'm very glad people write about it...it needs to be spoken about a whole lot more. Good job at describing depression!!

Anna
