Animal Thanksgiving
by Sharron Tyrrell
Acorns fall to earth with a thud
causing squirrels to gather.
Pine trees laden with bursting cones
they could eat if they’d rather.
Pumpkins resting in autumn fields
mice nibble a hole for a door.
Big golden ears of abandoned corn
pulled across meadows to be stored.
Ripened apples fall from a tree
hungry deer below assemble.
Over there is a tall old beech
It’s shelled fruit from branch’s tumble.
A huge sunflower bows it’s head
blue jays feast on these treats.
Forgotten berries of red and blue
yummy fall banquet, pull up a seat.
lol
happy turkey day!!!
ps
i don't eat sushi either!
hugs...Anita
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Sharron..
Right now, as I look out the office window,
my three pet crows are dining on bread crusts,
the feeder is full of birds, a once "stray" cat
is filling himself on freshly cooked chicken,
and my pet Bambi Buck is nibbling corn and apples.
I love the scenery here, as I did in your poem!
