... I am a Veteran, too. ...

Honor all: not to take away from my brothers and sisters who saw war, but I am a Veteran, too. Just because I served stateside, peacetime, feels like my service didn't matter. Still injured on duty. The pain doesn't go away. Older I get, the worse it gets, adding to the stress I'm under. Disabled. Can't work. Made to feel less than worthless. Since I'm not OIF or OEF, 'We can't help.' 'Sorry.' Don't forget: all gave some. Some gave all.

You've said it very well, Karla. Served for 11 years, all stateside, and you're right; stateside vets are treated differently even tho we may have been 2,000 miles away from our families for months and months at a time. They wanted me so badly in 2003 they took me and stationed me at Fort Sill, Oklahoma even tho I was already totally disabled. Said they wanted my brain, not my body. And yet, I'm not considered a disabled veteran? Go figure!!!
