For the love of poetry ...

Shy’s Ode to Poetic Souls

Once we were auspicious souls less worn
Trudging half-revealed whimsical paths
Where lucky seemed leaves beneath shade
Now stands mischief that weans mayhem and stings.
We intended, eager once, to incite brightly lit souls
Strong were destiny’s champions of pure tides
We united exquisite words in heavenly poems
Best of times, best of us, best of our ripened dreams.
Hush flamboyant souls, hush, hush, don’t fret
Wicked walks wrath with feared foe rapture
Anger rages with fury, but it is incredible laughter
That releases burdens that weigh heavy on souls.
Walk delirious and don’t measure your stride
Random struts the best prizes, opened by surprise.
Poets! Showtime! Excel my favorite fluttering friends
Flicker in brilliance, and ignite fires in poetic souls.

My thought for today: The sum of my soul is not a number, not a word, not collection of frivolous things and people, not defined by men, not afraid. It is truth, love, wisdom, happiness, fellowship with true friends of faith. All these things personified is my destination and my path - they are my calling card!

Shy Poet, how beautiful the gift that you possess! Reading this beautiful piece causes me to question what I've been doing that has kept me away from Authors Den so long! Never stop stirring up and pouring forth the gift.

God bless you.

"Flicker in brilliance, and ignite fires in poetic souls." For this is the purpose of poetry -- always to inspire. And this poem has inspired me. It has made me question the reasons behind verses. Why do we express them. Not enough that we do. If we have learned something through our journey as human beings and poets, then we must inspire.

Thank you for sharing this. Good to hear from you again.

I love this line the best, in this piece, which is also one of
your best.
This thought has been my "words to live by"...that laughter is
the soothing balm for our injured souls.
