The Ocean’s Surprise

The ocean holds a surprise or two
And I’m not one to easily startle
But today possesses something new
I encounter an exquisite sea turtle

This singular marvel holds my gaze
An incomparable vision to behold
Such a scarcity in this vast array
An image more treasured than gold
 

In awe I creep, my approach is slow
In my soul a yearning to connect
I gasp and freeze, my heart in limbo
Not believing what my eyes detect

Not one, not two, I can’t keep count
Surely the reflections are deceiving
Excitement grows, continues to mount
My heart and mind are reeling
 

Loch Ness monsters come to mind
As head after head pops through
Salty foam and seaweed combined
Staging this exclusive revue

In this tiny isolated cove on the bay
Each lapping wave brings another
A spectacular show, privately on display
Of God’s generosity and wonder
 

Sadly this turtle extravaganza must end
And a wave of flippers bids me adieu
A wonderful tryst, a glorious Godsend
Of a memory that holds such virtue
