It was me reaching for you
that silent pressure on your chest
it was me wrapping around you
to give you something to hold onto
through the tears and the pleading
I was there minding my business
but never letting go of you
it was me reaching for you
and doing nothing to change things
though I would if you asked me to
I felt your heat in return
but it held an unusual desperation
and then in the aftermath
I felt the line snap dramatically
beneath the weight of your indecision
this is the test and in this moment
we're waiting for you to pass or withdraw
I feel myself curl inward
and drift toward an unwilling exit
because there's nothing more I can do
it's cold on this slow recoil
cold and empty and I feel so helpless.

You can't express letting go any better than this. Marvelous poetry.

If this is personal, April, it's very moving, and if it isn't personal it's still very moving; it has caring and a sense of helplessness and that 'unusual desperation' smacks me in the teeth.
A fine delivery.
