How my musician son got started. He now plays three instruments and tutors new musicians, plus playing with his band

A RISING STAR

He shook his long brown hair behind him,
As he played his  fancy new guitar.

He looked down from the stage,
A sea of adoring fans were going wild!
As they heard his music play.
The applause was loud as thunder
On that fateful day.

He finished his song, and took a bow.
He hadn’t played the guitar for long
It was only yesterday,
when he didn’t even know how!

After the song was over, he heard
his musician father say.  “That was terrific.
Now that’s MY little boy!”
He had been standing on a little orange stool.
That was his famous stage.

His mother took the guitar from his hands.
“Why did you do that". said the little boy.
She had made him angry.
His new guitar was his favorite toy.

She said, “Son, it’s time for bed.”
He asked his mother “why?”
She sighed and said “For once, just do as I say.
You’re just a child, you must learn
you can’t always have your way.”

He would be a star one day,
Than his parents would see.
He just couldn’t do much now,
he was only three!

This poem reflects the childhood, innocent dreams. I am able to envision the little boy standing on his orange stool. Your poem brought back such good memories for me. I remember when I was very young, I would stand on top of the coffee table in the den and pretend to be a famous singer on American Bandstand. Your memories and words brought back such good memories. Also, your poem shows the way children think, as they get caught up with a daydream, reality sets in and the child realizes, "hey, I am still a kid and I have to go to bed now"..
