Ghosts Within
Your presence within my soul haunts me at
the most inappropriate times.
Driving past a house in an unfamiliar neighborhood
Urging me to stop instantly
Why am I here my mind will wonder and yet the urge
To enter is irresistible in my mind
I walk through an unknown house and know that
I am home once again
Reading through a novel I come across a name
Ive never heard before
All of a sudden I realize I did know this person
in some forgotten time.
The aroma of a foreign food floats across
The restaurant air
Your specter, nudging me to taste a dish
Ive never heard of before.
The time I tired to speak a deep thought but could
not find the right words.
Your spirit stirred and the words I spoke
were not my own.
Watching an old movie on television late
on a lonely night
A foreign language spoken and yet I suddenly
realize I understood every word.
An apparition from a soul lost so
Very long go
A phantom that keeps creeping through my
mind at whim
Disguising itself as a memory
Of a time I know not when.
