Ah, Shucks!
.
I really did not mean to hurt her
It was just a fluke
I did not know she would duck
And loosen her bottom tooth
.
I tried to explain to my mother
But she did not want to hear
She was so very angry
That she pulled the lobe of my ear
.
My sister yelled and cried so hard
It made me jump up out of my chair
I looked at her in surprise
I wanted to laugh but did not dare
.
Ah, shucks, I really did not want to hurt her
I tried to hug her tight and apologize
But she pushed me away
Pulling on my hair so tight
.
Momma told me to go outside
That I was not to come back in for awhile
To go to the barn and tell my dad what I did
But I was afraid I was going to be put on trial
.
So here I am sitting on the ground
Deciding what I should do
Take a chance and explain to dad
Or hide out from him too
.
I learned a lesson today at least
Not to pull pranks on those you love
Cause they might get hurt by accident
And God is watching from above
.
I told God that I would not do that again
If He would forgive me for being a bad boy
And that I would be good to my sister
Unless she starts to bug me
Or tries to steal my toys
.
I love real life poems that I cannot read without visualizing it while reading.

This one reminds me of my brother and me in our childhood. A delightful read! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you Kathy, for bringing into my thought...that mind-set of my-inner-child...again...
A sweet and delightful poem. Love the Ah! shucks.
