You can learn a lot from a squirrel

Like thinking outside of the box

While I figure out ways to stump him

He just stuffs himself and mocks

The birdies all go hungry

When this guy comes here to feed

The label said it’s squirrel proof

But I guess he doesn’t read

I’ve hung the feeder way up high

And way out on a pole

I’ve set the lock springs up to the max

But he still gets in the hole

And when he does there’s nothing left

In the twinkling of an eye

And off I go to Petsmart

More bags of seed to buy

I’ve tried a half a dozen kinds

Of birdfeeder designs

They all have one thing in common

They’re no match for squirrels’ minds

Like I said in the beginning

How the squirrels will outfox

It’s nature’s way of showing you

They live outside the box
