I walked into the kitchen
A pot of chili on the range
And as I stirred the goodness
My furry friend tried to arrange
A tripping opportunity
No acid was involved
She was hoping for a floor show
But that was fortunately resolved
God bless our furry friends
Who see us at our best
For all that they ask us in return
Is a comfy place to rest
There is something that is in her breed
That makes her want to herd
She’ll push her nose into your feet
Her playful guidance is absurd
Her destination always crystal clear
Her resolve never in doubt
To lead me to the treat bin
For a crunchy dog handout
And God bless our furry friends
Who see us at our best
For all that they ask us in return
Is a comfy place to rest
In the evening I sit in my easy chair
To reflect on the day’s events
I give them each a peanut
Expanding waistline it prevents
But the summertime doggy pool
That doubles as their bowl
Turns their chops into dripping mops
And my face soon pays the toll
And God bless our furry friends
Who see us at our best
For all that they ask us in return
Is a comfy place to rest

God Bless Them, Indeed. They give so much, and ask so little in return.
PS: Our cattle dog, Turbo, even tries to herd our cats - but oddly enough, they don't like it too much!
