Defining Stupidity

Yesterday afternoon I tried to deal with a bee hive instead of calling a beekeeper.

Photo:My former spa

Poem Artwork

Stupidity cannot be fixed

But can certainly be defined

Moronic acts so obvious

The head stuck in the behind

We had a bee hive in our spa

I sought to smoke them out

So I got 4 pieces of charcoal

To instigate the rout

I placed them in a ceramic dish

Squirted fluid and lit the flame

For the sad results of this bright act

I have my idiot self to blame

The coals burned to their normal gray

The smoke wafted towards the nest

I moved the dish a little closer

The bees were unimpressed

The dish felt cool as I slid it over

Near the slot the bees were using

So I gave up and went inside

My failed attempt was not amusing

I watched some baseball, ate lasagna

Had some beers and fooled around

Saturday’s hours had been consumed

So I went to bed and asleep fell sound

About two a.m. the doggie woofed

I heard raindrops on the porch

But window curtain was flashing orange

And my spa was a flaming torch!!

I raced buck naked out the door

Grabbed a hose and began to douse

I had gotten there just in time

Before it spread back to the house

Of course I count my blessings

Although the spa is now destroyed

Eileen came in and said the bees are back

Now I’m beginning to get annoyed

Praise Nilla for her barking, Patrick for his quick action-- honestly, I stood and watched in shock, and said, "Fire?"

Dear deranged cuz Patrick, next time you want to get rid of a wasp nest, give ten bucks to the boy next door and tell him to give it a mighty whack. If he's stupid enough he will ask you for fifteen.
Hilarious!

I'd have to say you are extremely lucky. That fire could have been much worse.

PS: Maybe you should raise bees - good money in honey!

Very funny, Patrick! Sometimes, in retrospect, the funniest things are the stupidest things. I once blew my parents kitchen up with the gun powder from a .45 bullet and also almost burnt my home down by trying to evict a nest of rats from beneath my concrete door-stoop by shoving paper into it and lighting it. So, see? You're not the only one that does really dumb things.

Wow! So glad you saved your house from disaster, Patrick! Never, ever, lose that sense of humor.....you, my friend will never grow old if you don't! I have an uncle that is much like you.....he always finds humor in the douriest situation, which makes him a complete joy to be around!

To bee or not to bee, that is the question I suppose, as you doused the fire with the hose, and now you have a charcoal spa, ha ha ha, you are the funniest, I hope you didn't hurt the wee creatures, reminds me when I nearly set the neighbourhood on fire, trying to evict a wasps nest out of an ancient woodpile, but that's too long a story for now. Thanks for a great piece of tragic humour.

Holy shit Patrick!!! It could have been worse I suppose. Sometimes that phone can seem like it's 800 pounds; but pick it up we must. Glad everything is somewhat okay. I wonder if arson would help my poetry?

Always attack bees at night, but we all have to learn, sometimes the hard way. Tough break.

I am having the same problem with wasps, had somebody come and that only made them angrier, cause now their babies are stuck in the downspout. ....maybe I should try that naked thing, that should scare the H*ll out of them.
