2010 Year of the Tiger.......NOT!

Toothless Tigers abound

Poem Artwork

Can a leopard change its spots?

As the biblical saying goes

A Tiger can surely change its stripes

When slicing causes fairway woes

When the putter is thy enemy

And the sandtrap is thy friend

With his worst round ever posted

He’ll be happy to see season’s end

My Detroit Tigers are back in slump

After such a promising start

It happens every season

Predictable as a morning fart

Their pitching is pathetic

Their hitting is really weak

They try to pin it on umpires

Because their season’s up a creek

It’s the Chinese year of the Tiger

Ancestors rolling in their grave

Because Tigers are supposed to signify

The courageous and the brave

They guard against three evils

Fire and Thieves and Ghosts

So maybe it’s just too far fetched

Pondering this year’s mileposts

We had a talented golfer

Now a Ghost of a former master

And a team of stripeless kitties

Sports Thieves owning their disaster

The last of the evils may be fulfilled

Within the next month or two

When hopefully half the team is Fired

For a season that they simply blew

Interesting thoughts. The Chinese medicine trade makes sure that the tiger and other top animals like the rhino and gorilla are near extinction.

Free the Tiger. Maybe then he will get back to his alpha drive.... and putt.

Well, if Tiger's been eating humble pie all season, then it's no wonder he's gotta blow! As to the Detroit crowd, not a clue... they may as well be the England Football Team for all I know and they probably would do a better job! Yep, the Tiger has certainly been skinned and become a fire-side rug this sporting year. I'm already looking forward to 2012, though. xx

Very creative Patrick! Two Tigers in poor positions with a biblical twist. I love it!

We can move away from that damn state, but still find ourselves following their various teams, don't we? (it's been 20 years for me)GO BLUE!!! And they are all still letting us down. Got so bad that the "Shock" moved out of state too. But, you had me giggling with this one Patrick. Love your wit and humor. BURRRPPP! Thanks Dick

Being about the worst sports person in the world, and because we live here and not there, I know naught of the Detroit Tigers, however, of our Tiger, as the saying goes: "Screw with the bull, expect to get the horns, or something like that and I guess all of this Tiger's screwing sure got him caught by the hornes and, "Ouch" the worst score of his career.

The thing about it, their game is weak and they're losers who'll never make the big leagues...and about god, I think he knows that unsportsman like conduct benches the foes...as for a leopard changing its spots or a tiger changing its stripes, camouflaging a front to cover up something else, it's still a zoo and the stink is still stink, and the morning fart is a tell-tell sign something big is about to happen...metaphorical and alive and hits the spot, Patrick...be well you and Eileen.

Love,
Sage

I am not a fan of organized sports (although I must admit a slight penchant for hockey and the Montréal Canadiens) but I love the witty manner in which you have expressed your views in your verses here, Patrick. Thank you. Love and peace,

Regis
