Dark Shadows of the DMV

I sent my driver's license renewal form in seven weeks ago. They cashed my check right away but acknowledge processing delays because of manufacturing difficulties with the new, improved, ultra modern, ultra secure, hologram infested, micro chipped piece of plastic, ..ahem, pocket matter. Just try to conduct regular business with an expired license.

Poem Artwork

Darkened shell conceals your scowl

But not your blackened heart

Empty eyes that chill the room

Snarly attitude from the start

Devoid persona that steals the light

Shadow cast by tormented moon

Bubbling rasps from your sick chords

Gurgle a weary dreary tune

Zombied reference to vehicle code

Don’t expect for sixty days

To be driving legally on the road

As we muddle through our process haze

Be advised we’ve cashed your check

That should alleviate your fears

Now aren’t you glad you deal with us

Only once in every four years

"Abandon hope all ye who enter here....> It's not a fun plqace to be, Writing a poem about it makes it at least SEEM more bearable. Enjoyed very much. I think th local DMV is a shared plague.

You seem to have a knack for describing people, places and events that I seem to be all too familiar with as well. So you'll be happy to know that if you ever decide to move to Oregon and try our DMV - you'll take a number from the little machine that functions in a different time zone than the "Now Serving" reader boards. Then you'll have plenty of time to sit and watch the comedy of interactions between everyone ahead of you and the DMV employees who are certainly cousins of your California Crew. Enjoyed your poems - I think of them now as a pleasurable, innocuous way of getting back at annoying situations and people in my life.

Patrick, That stinks! The people in those places aren't very nice either. I think they get paid to give driver's shit! Excuse my French! Anyway, sorry that happened. If ya need a ride just hit me up...Take care, Chessly

Sounds almost like I.R.S. As a matter of fact, hmmm? Isn't it Internal Revenue Service you're speaking of?

I feel your pain brother, I feel your pain. Does this mean that Eileen is the only 'legal' driver in your family now?

Cheers,
Dan

Seven weeks for a driver's license renewal?! Wow, and I thought my state was bad when it took two weeks to get a license plate renewal.

They've stretched out NJ's license renewal to like 6 years till you get older than 60, then it is back to 4 years...isn't that age profiling...? But with NJ you HAVE to go to the DMV office, present a bunch of differing proofs the you are you & still sometimes they send you home for one more...Ed (lots of fun if the office is ten or more miles away from home)
