Middle of July is right. Could never understand why basketball continues until the middle of summer. The only reason I could think of is that basketball fans have nothing better to do and it's all about money. So glad poetry is about money and we can say what we want just like you did here–amusing without having to pay anything.
Sorry guy, I'm a Celtics fan. T me there is nothing sweeter than the demise of the Lakers, whenever and howedver it happens. Unfortunately, I think my team will soon be going quietly into the night. For me the big problem is players like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James who are allowed to thuink they are bigger than thegame they play.
I'd rather watch baseball or football, but never basketball & hockey, even to write about same makes me nauseas...Hey what happened to the "ode to whiny thugs", now that one I was lookin' forward to...;-)e
