Mark Lichtermann's article about California's legalizing pot debate caused me to reminisce about my early 1970's. Thai sticks were always a favorite. Not to mention I will always love Pink Floyd's "Dark side of the moon"

To the musical tune "Favorite Things"

Poem Artwork

White Castle burgers consumed by the dozen

Laughing my ass off with best friends and cousin

Scarfing up big piles of buffalo wings

Those were a few of my favorite things

Whole quart of chocolate milk followed by snicker

That last slice of pizza but my roommate was quicker

Two liters of Pepsi to calm my mood swings

Those were a few of my favorite things

Watched hundreds of movies but none I remember

Convinced it was summer in middle December

Drinking bong water that made my ears ring

Those were a few of my favorite things

Stereo roared as our conversations drifted

More pizza delivered when appetites shifted

Dark side of the moon always made my heart sing

Those were a few of my favorite things

When the day bites

When the night stings

When I’m feeling sad

I simply remember those favorite things

And all of the fun I had

 Reviews of "Party Daze"

Like Mark, I was real late coming to the party, (early 30's once or twice, then a long pause til mid 40's) but I do have some fond recollections. Either that or someone told me about them.

I always liked to jot down all the strange thoughts brought up during a party for later inclusion in something I would write. Now days, when I have a moment of "brilliance," I record it on my "portable brain" for later reflection.

Great title.... Thanks for taking me back... You do that so well. Dick

I prefer “another brick in the hole”– The Wall. Never let my feelings affect my food intake. But then, never had a taste for Mary Jane either.

Thanks for the memories, Patrick. I have heard that some similar fun was had in the 60's and 70's in Berkeley. Not me personally mind you, I was at the parties but only there to take notes for a book. And Bill Clinton and I didn't inhale.
My biggest smile, for a piece well done.

Never drank --yuk-- bong water and my never ending nosh was Wheat
Thins. But I got into pot at the age of forty and had to keep it from my kids. I remember writing, or re-writing, or re-re-writing, for the third time, my 736 page novel "Captain Midnight and the Toothpase Thief" which later became "Becoming", while sitting in my frigid, or steaming garage at 2:30 am hitting on a joint every now and then with ideas flowing. Haven't had a "hit" in thirty-two years and, though, I do like an adult beverage every now and then, I really don't miss MJ at all.

Good poem, ol' buddy.
