Andover, Maine

More stuff you can’t make up.

State police arrested a man last week for breaking into a vacationing resident’s home and squatting. The man said both his dog and Jesus told him to do it because he was supposed to meet country singer Taylor Swift there and marry her in the back yard. I had to look this up, but Taylor has a dog too, a mini doberman named “Bug.”

Poem Artwork

A marriage made in heaven

Jesus told me what to do

He handed me the road map

And I just followed through

He located me a big back yard

For me and Taylor Swift

The only problem now is

That I’ve got no wedding gift

Sweet Jesus can you help me

Don’t make my dog a liar

There are some things just meant to be

With both our hearts on fire

It was to be a double nuptial

With Taylor and her Bug

Me and my dog would seal it

With a special double hug

But the troopers wouldn’t have it

They put a sad end to our dreams

And the handcuffs that we’re wearing

Are much sadder than it seems

Sweet Jesus can you help me

Don’t make my dog a liar

There are some things just meant to be

With both our hearts on fire

I try not to be discouraged

Looking in my dog’s warm eyes

He’s telling me we should try again

For true love always shows reprise

With him it’s hard to argue

Every time you cross love’s borders

But the reality is that even dogs

Must obey restraining orders

Sweet Jesus can you help me

Don’t make my dog a liar

There are some things just meant to be

With both our hearts on fire

As much as I loath Country and Western. You sure are gifted, this is superb! I found myself singing to it in a country and western rhythm and tune.
Patrick, this is excellently written. I could easily see it as a C n W hit. I'll be doing the Texas two step, next.

Sweet Jesus and dogs may march to the beat of a different drummer.
However the guy came up with a different kind of an excuse for breaking an entering. Different but unbelivably stupid... But not your poem, ol' buddy.
