The government prints money. They print lots of money; so much that it is commonly believed that roaring inflation is inevitable. Many people have been convinced that gold and silver is an effective hedge against inflation. Historically that has not been true in the US. I would argue that beer is a pretty good option

Commodities commodities May correct currency oddities Time the right one and you’ll be rich Cycle the wrong one and life is a bitch Tie them to dollars which one is right? I need one that allows me to sleep well at night I’ve scoured the world and it’s perfectly clear The perfect commodity is an ice cold beer Holds its value through thick and through thin Nutritional qualities, helps relaxing begin Tastes better than silver, has the luster of gold No broker’s commission when this one is sold Can be bought for a discount at times of the year Unlike Wall Street the timing’s usually clear With other commodities hold time is presumed The beauty of beer is it must be consumed Taxes on metals must be paid when they’re sold Taxes on beer when you buy warm or cold Traditional or Roth IRA’s you can choose Invest in some beer, it’s impossible to lose. Au contraire! One can become a drunk on that tankard, and a nuisance at that. Be found in a trailer down by the river, just chewing the fat. That's why I choose wine� it's more sublime.
