In praise of Roses

*I watched the petals* *of a Rose fall* *one by one* *till all were gathered* *on the ground* *scattered all about.* *They look so sad untidy* *without that grace* *their glory gone,* *even their Yellow* *has faded* *to a dull shade of white.* *I look with sadness at this array* *yet gratitude I have* *for all they had given* *like hundreds of Suns* *for so many mornings* *from May to September* *shimmering on a fence.* *So I look forward to their return* *once again* *next year* *farewell fallen petals* *laying on the ground.*
