So they spoke the weird ones That live in the warm seas, And I'm sure you would agree with me If you have ever been stung by them. If not… you're pretty lucky buster, Because they can hurt real mean. Some kinds of stings Are like miniature harpoons, Not like Cupids arrows That makes your heart weak. No way, my love, But with barbs on the end That injects poison To paralyze their prey. Did you ever wonder? How jellyfish reproduce their wonders With those squishy like bodies? Tiny or large, the most common kinds Are about the size of a saucer. If you were a jellyfish my friend What would you eat? Mostly small fish or some delicious Shrimp or tasteless plankton. Did you know…? That jellyfish kill more people Than a great White Shark. And they can sting the shit out of you?
Yet they are not as ugly as spiders Though they look pretty weird to me, But by far More tolerant of them Than spiders O’Ya.

I was a drift with the tide coming out of Chimney Creek unti the Atlantic heading for Gray's Reef. Once out about a mile the ocean was full of baby jelly fish with an occasional big momma...pulsating up and down in the water. It was a fascinating once in a lifetime wonder. The sight was emotional and beautiful but still the sting stayed as an alarm as your pen was here. I'll never forget that day!

Oh Tinka you captured the wonder of one of the sea's most deadly and yet most beautiful creatures. As a diver had great respect for Jelly fish but also marvelled at their almost ghostly beauty.
Wow, I agree with you on the spider vs. jellyfish issue -- I hate spiders! Jellyfish are kinda cute actually. I've learned a lot from your poem, Tinka. A nice and enjoyable read.

I was stung as a child when we lived by the Jersey shore, I'll never forget it. They are fascinating to watch. Excellent poem Tinks!

Jellyfish are quite interesting arn't they? I was sadden to hear so many of them are being attack now because of the death of an actor that is well loved by all. However I agree with what I have read. If he was alive he would tell all his loyal fans to lay off the jellyfish/stingrays. He loved life. He would never favor the end of it. He died the way he lived and probably is up there laughing at his own death.
