The UN

The UN is an institution that survives with the money of its member states in which case donors who pay a hefty sum have a bigger say in the organization. Soon we expect the Security Council to preside a meeting over the Somalia issue and we wonder what the outcome could be so long as we are a poor country torn apart by war and famine. In a previous decision by the UN to send troops to Somalia in 1993, the mission had ended in a quagmire. This time I think they will be very careful and shall probe the matter deeply before the reach a decision.

Poem Artwork

Replete with bureaucracy
Rich in glaring vocabulary
The UN is like a playwright
Presenting a show of romance
Starting with a sweet comedy
But end up in a painful tragedy

Satiated with opaqueness
Holding routine conferences
The UN is like a sunflower
Beautiful and quite striking
Always flirting with the sun
Shaken by the rays of love
Sharing bed with diplomacy
But giving birth to quandary

The UN has ground down to impotence. Politics prevents it achieving so much of its promised peace. Yet, yet.... without the UN, where would the world be? Abdi-Noor, we, who struggle to end the fighting and hatred, we, the people who see suffering, we, who wish to take a stand, must not let that hope die.

Give the world direction, let us know what needs to occur, find a way for the tribes and religious factions to let go of the guns. That is the only way....

God bless - and holding to hope. Fergus

Well if enough people who care speak out, they will have no choice but to place some attention toward Somalia! I look at the world as a body...each place is a part. Without an arm or a leg, or a liver or a heart we lose our abilities to be whole...without an epiglottis we'd all choke to death...so no matter how big a place or small a country...no matter how weak or powerful the part...we need each other to survive! If the whole world could see this...I believe we can then work on getting along!
I am a loud voice and I'm trying to help...I am a just little part but I can try to get the big parts to listen!
SAVE SOMALIA! SAVE HER PEOPLE!
The UN today is not what it was...but it better be for all our sakes!
Keeping this whole thing in focus and at the top of my prayer list!
Love and Peace, Abdi~
