Puffing up with barometric might
He swirls across the warm sea
Moisture fueling his watery fire
and his wind shearing the sky
In an over tightened embrace
his sideways glance spins like a backwards clock
recreating Cyclops mythological fable in 2004
The beast roars with a low pressure growl
as all the sooth sayers polish their crystal balls
Oh no, no, no…man is no match
against what nature has in store
So he strikes a path of most destruction
from west-to-east coast shores
and in the center I await
with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck
and the rest of the cast in our Islands of Adventure
Hurricane Charley has come to town

(been in one tornado; no damage to my place, but the apts. just up the way from us got smacked. we did lose power for several hours, and then, another storm rolled on through--no tornadoes this time, thank goodness!--, and it knocked out our power for two days. it was NOT fun!)
