A pirate's Halloween tale.

Up to my eyes in glittering gold …
a delight to hold thought it can't fold,
into a pocket.
Riches soar, rocket,
when you score a vein.

Trying to bury my fortune deep,
marauders push me … I drown, do sleep
'neath white, foaming waves.
Others seek, more graves …
didn't die in vain.

Shiver me timbers, I fall apart
waterlogged to the bones, swelled my heart.
Gold cost me my health
but I've kept my wealth
where I fell, have lain.

Bones, creaking weary and cold, float by
but I've kept that gold close to my eye.
An eel lives nearby
so robbers will die
else suffer sheer pain.

Up to my eyes in glittering gold …
would trade it for a body not cold.
Lacking in need
I died of pure greed …
greed drives one insane.

Dark, dingy damp beings like the glow
and will never let gold rise up, go.
