Some of us who have a heart, don't show it. Others, heartless, thump on.

Jolly the Snowman
by Sandra S. Corona
(Shhh! Listen!)
(Thumpity, thump-thump, thumpity, thump thump)
Jolly was a cheery, dancing snowman …
half-melted soles would glide him anywhere.
Jolly was a ‘yes’ man … never ‘no’ man
who pranced around with children in town square.
His hat, it was magic; strong winds took it---tragic
A swish of the air left Jolly’s head bare
icycles were his ears … so people stare.
(Thumpity, thump, thump … )
Freezing in his stride, old Jolly stood there
immobile like an ordinary snowman.
The children yelled, “We’ll catch your hat, we can.”
They wanted Jolly LIVE to dance again.
Soft flakes kept on falling … his insides were gnawing.
It hardly seems fair that Jolly froze there
when laughter rings about in frigid air.
(thump)
About him children gathered quite amazed—
quite a jolly spirit ice or snow glazed.
Raisins for his mouth, carrot for his nose;
it’s only with that hat that Jolly glows.
Jolly is contagious with laughter outrageous.
A snow fantasy of how men should be
happy and peaceful, learning to care, share.
(Thumpity, thump)
Found the hat and put it on the snowman.
He sprang to life as only Jolly can.
The children shouted out happy, in glee.
“Go to the mountains Jolly. You’ll be free.
Do stay during warm seasons.” In winter they reason
He’ll come play again with children and grin
because they believe, Jolly will be there.
(Thumpity, thump-thump, thumpity, thump thump)
Believing is part of everyone’s heart
some (out of practice) don’t know how to start.
Emotions, feelings, shared is an old art
learning to love anew plays a large part!
